Transition into School
All of our parents of children in Nursery and Reception are invited in to school for a meeting once their child has been allocated a place at HCP for the following September. This meeting is a session where information is shared with parents regarding the routines of school.Following this meeting staff will conduct visits to Nurseries or home visits where appropriate.
In June all of our new starters to school (Nursery and Reception) are invited into school for a Getting to know you session. This session allows both parents and children an opportunity to come into school to spend some time in their new classroom together. Staff are available to talk to and meet children.
We also hold a transition day in July of each year where children get to spend the full day in their new class.
Wilkes Street to Conduit Street
We know that moving from the Wilkes Street site to the Conduit Street site can be a scary experience. We try to make this as easy as possible. In the summer term we use every opportunity to allow the year 1 children time at the new building. Events such as Sports Day are held at Conduit Street. This gives both children and parents the chance to spend some time in their new environment. Vulnerable children have planned in transition visits to support them further.
To support transition further, the Year 2 teachers have made this video that we send out to everyone.
Transition from Year 6
In October our Year 6s visited Royton and Crompton school to participate in some food technology lessons. For many of us this was our first visit to a secondary school. We met some staff and saw the classrooms in action. This has helped answer some of the questions we already have about our next big educational adventure. We also made fruit kebabs - Yum!
