Welcome to Nursery 2026/27

Nursery is a very special place for our children as it is the very start of their Hodge Clough journey!

We recognise that children's time in Nursery is hugely important as it helps them prepare for future success. Our belief is that every child deserves the best possible start in life to help them reach their full potential.

To do this we aim to provide a supportive, safe and stimulating environment which will promote all areas of each child's development through a broad and balanced curriculum, personalised to their individual needs.

We believe that children's Early Years experience should be happy, active, fun and support their development, care and learning needs.

We will have many opportunities to develop our speaking and listening skills. We will retell stories in a variety of ways, including taking on the roles of different characters. Through these stories, we will explore our own feelings and begin to understand and relate to the feelings of others. Our continuous provision activities will be carefully planned to immerse us in each story, providing rich and meaningful language experiences.

Our learning will be supported by a range of traditional tales, including The Three Little Pigs, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and The Three Billy Goats Gruff. These familiar stories will help us develop storytelling skills, rich language, and an understanding of characters and events.
