Routines
A short section explaining the class’s day-to-day routines, such as:
PE days (and what children should wear).
Reading book change days.
Library day (if applicable).
Any other weekly items (homework collection, swimming, etc.).
Optional: include times or reminders for parents (e.g., “Please ensure water bottles are brought daily.”)
Homework
At Hodge Clough, all areas of the curriculum are important. This half term we would like you to choose a minimum of 2 activities from the grid below as your homework tasks. We hope this style of homework will encourage everyone to take part and give family members a chance to become more involved in working with their children on fun, creative and exciting activities.

(Y1-6) The only other weekly homework tasks will be:
spellings
daily reading (this can include reading to an adult or, of equal importance, an adult reading to their child) for 10 minutes
Children have their own Times Tables Rockstars (Years 2-6) or Numbots (Reception - Year 1) logins and are expected to practice regularly throughout the week at home
(this one is a wish!) Children also have logins to Learning by Questions, and activities from this platform may also be set for homework
(Reception) - Additional Phonics work may be sent home to practise what they have been doing in class. In addition, the children are expected to read at home, and have their reading records signed, daily.

Essential Learning in Year ___
At Hodge Clough Primary, pupils are assessed against end-of-year age-related expectations in maths and English. These expectations, in line with the National Curriculum, set out the minimum requirements a learner must meet in order to ensure continued progress throughout the year, in line with age expected standards
The New Curriculum places a strong emphasis on ensuring children develop a broad understanding of the concepts and skills they learn. The application of skills and understanding across a wide range of curriculum areas is key. Rather than moving ‘up’ the stages, the focus is on moving ‘outwards’ developing a deeper understanding.,
