Wow! What a busy first half-term we've had in Year 2!
We’ve been up to so many exciting things this term.
We began with our ‘Starbooks’ Author Day celebrating Roald Dahl, where we enjoyed reading a good book, a cup of hot chocolate, and a biscuit - the perfect recipe for a love of reading!
In Music, we’ve been focusing on pitch and rhythm. Using glockenspiels and Boomwhackers, we composed our own pieces to show changes in pitch and worked hard on keeping in time by reading notes and staying on beat - even trying our hand at bucket drumming!
Our Art lessons have been all about tone and shading. We explored the school grounds to discover different textures and then used these techniques to sketch our favourite teddy bears.
In Computing, we’ve been learning about the different components of a computer while developing our keyboard and mouse skills. We also began to think about how to use technology safely and responsibly.
Our Geography work has taken us to London! We’ve been learning about the city’s geographical features and using maps to describe position and direction.
To finish the half-term, we celebrated Diwali by creating beautiful Diva lamps and enjoying a delicious Diwali-inspired lunch together.
What a fantastic start to the year!
