Welcome to Year 4 2025/26

Year 4 is an exciting year full of growth, confidence, and learning! This year your children will become more independent learners, building on their skills in maths, English, and beyond, while tackling more challenging work with resilience and creativity.  They explore a wide range of exciting topics that make learning enjoyable. Alongside this, friendships grow stronger, teamwork skills shine, and children develop a real sense of responsibility. It’s a year where they not only strengthen their foundations but also explore new ideas with enthusiasm, setting them up brilliantly for the years ahead.

We will be diving into the wonders of the Amazon rainforest and our local woodlands. From exploring the layers of the rainforest and the incredible creatures that live there, to understanding the importance of these ecosystems and the challenges they face. We will gain a deeper appreciation for our planet’s natural world. We'll also investigate how local woodlands are used, through hands-on data collection and analysis. It's going to be a term full of exploration and discovery!

We will be reading The Land of Roar as our class novel. Alongside this, we will be using Arthur and the Golden Ropeto support our writing. Inspired by this text, we will write a myth narrative and an information guide, developing both creative and factual writing skills.

Later in the term, we will use The Lost Happy Endings as a stimulus for writing a narrative and a persuasive letter, focusing on structure, vocabulary, and writing for different purposes.
